General unprocessed tone for Bryan Adams; before all the chorus, delay, reverb etc effects are added.
Ingredients: Fender Strat on bridge pickup through a Vox AC15 model on an AD30VT set clean. I used heavy strings (10-52) and hit them hard to provide as much natural drive as possible.
I've had the Run To You tone in my head for years and have struggled to reproduce it; I'm not so much hung on using it for this exact song, but because it seems like a really usable jangly overdrive like I've heard on many records. Listen to the rhythm guitar break after the solo - I think the key is to double track a clean guitar. It's definitely a Strat through a Vox amp but I find the AC30TB model too shrill with the bridge pickup - to my ears, the AC15 does a better job.
I find the compressor (on the amp's default setting - have not played with the Edit knob) adds a little bit of sustain and thickness to the required clean tone.
