What Covering is used on the Vox AD60vt?

Postby JoseElDente » 16 Mar 2011, 21:00

Im wanting to take off the black covering on the amp and replace it with something in a brighter, custom colour. does any1 know if this can be done? What material is it that covers the amp? What covering can I use to replace this? What kind of fixative would be best? In short - I need answers to everything concerning this! Hope I can glean some info from all you fine people.
Cheers!

Are you talking about the black tolex on the cabinet? It is attached with adhesive. You can replace it with anything you want (spray adhesive). The trouble might be removing the front grille cloth without damaging it as I am not sure how that is attached. I know the speaker baffle is usually glued in but I am not sure if the cloth is attached to that or another board and then attached to the speaker baffle.

Take a look at this

Remember that the VT probably has a particle board cabinet while the VTX uses plywood.

Search the web for "replacing tolex". Here's a link with links to get you started
