VT30 feedback issue

Postby tiagoguy » 08 Sep 2011, 00:42

Hello everyone!

I've been searching this website for answers and, although I've found some very comprehensive guides on volume, gain etc., my problem's yet to be solved. Here's my situation:

After a few rehearsals and a small gig, I've come to realize that I'm unable to setup my VT30's Power Level to any extent over the 12-15W mark without getting some unbearable "squealing" sort of
feedback whenever I refrain from playing, keeping in mind that the Master Volume is constantly set to the 1 o'clock position in order to achieve that "saturated" amp kind of tone.

I use a Fender Strat equipped with Lace Sensors (Which tend to be noisy, I know), an MXR distortion 3 pedal (distortion set halfway), and the AC30TB preset on the amp (with gain set at 12 o'clock, and Volume at 3 o'clock).

Now I have this large outdoors gig on saturday and I'll really need to crank the amp up, but can't unless I figure out a solution to this problem. Any suggestions? Noise reduction works up to a certain but sustained notes get cut off way too soon, so its not really the best option...

Please help me!
Thanks in advance!

Oh and although this thread's subject refers to the VT30 i meant It to regard feedback on a more general level, thus why i've decided to post it in this forum... So owners of any type of Valvetronix amp, please feel free to help

Lace Sensors should not be noisy. They are a shielded single coil. The only time I get interference with them is if I have the TV on and I am right next to it with the neck pointed at it. If you are getting a lot of noise with them, either there is something wrong with the wiring or you are just in an extremely noisy environment.

It is a known problem with the amps.

I have Lace sensors, had a VT30 for a while, had the squeal on AC30BM model mostly. I am fairly certain that the humbuckers had the issue as well. Seems that if I activated the wah (Classic crybaby with true bypass) the issue would go away.
