VT100XL with Harmonica

Postby AllanD » 04 Aug 2011, 12:54

I have just brought a VT100XL and am playing harmonica through a Shure green bullet microphone. I was wondering if anyone else was using the amp with harmonica. If so, any tips on setup would greatly be appreciated.

Did my first gig with the VT100XL. The amp easily filled the small pub and I was setup a little by the sound engineer who removed my mic input from front of house, so it was all amp. I did however experience some feedback issues but found that if I turned down the gain a little this was overcome. I have now realized that the XL denotes that the amp has high gain models. I probably would have been better with a VT100 but I have it now and the clean channel with reverb has added a nice tone to the harmonica with ample volume. I use "busssaw" with reverb for the heavier songs such as Teen Spirit by Nirvana. (Yes a harp in Teen Spirit) I have experimented with flanger + reverb and this is also suited to the more heavy songs. It is when I use the effects that I was experiencing the feedback issues. Any how to deal with the feedback post them. Cheers.
