So, I just picked up a Tonelab ST, plugged it into my home PA system using the "Line" setting in the back. It sounded awful, all muddy and bassy on most settings, tried tweaking and to get a decent sound, I had to turn the bass all the way down and mess with a bunch of other stuff just to sound average. So then I went upstairs to plug it into my digital amp (Marshall MG) and set it to "M" setting (maybe it was the "V" or "F", dunno) on the back, sounded good and like it was supposed to, really helped my tone. I know that if I were to plug it straight into the PA where I play, I would get the same results as before (bassy and muddy mess). Half the reason I bought it is so that I wouldn't have to lug a big amp around, but it seems like I still have to. Does anyone else get the same results or is there something I am doing wrong?

Ok...I don't what it is, but its in my PA system, something is wrong with it, because I plugged in a pair of headphones into the Tonelab and, guess what, it sounds good! So, now I have to do some experimenting with my home PA system til I get it right.

Using the 'line' setting is simply an option but every piece of gear is different. Your home PA may work better with one of the other global EQ positions, so just experiment.

Sometimes, especially with older PA's, this can be cured by pulling the cable plug end at the Tonelab connection (jack) out slightly (AKA one click). Depending on the circuit used, this can prevent half of the stereo signal from leaking to ground and becoming a bass filter. If this is the case, just insert the plug all the way into the Tonelab, then pull the cable plug back out about 1/4'', you should be able to feel the connection tabs, most of the time doing this will make a difference.
