The power select switch does this, it works similar to an attenuator.

I suppose i should be concentrating on practicing more than tone hunting , but it gets quite addictive lol.

We have all been there, but you will find more tone in your fingers than anywhere else, practice, practice, practice. Use the amp tones to find the inspiration, your fingers to deliver the magic.

Might not decrease the volume as much as you want, but what about just lowering the level on your EQ and tweaking the sliders to compensate for the drop?

Not sure how your Danelectro eq would respond on the gain side. My MXR has both a volume and gain slider, so I can drop the volume all the way down and then tweak the rest to get back to a fairly close approximation of where my tone was at unity, just at a lower overall volume.

Depending on the amount of decrease you need and how your eq responds to overall level changes, might be worth a shot?
