Totally noob! Tone lab vs ADxxVT

Postby BluezOldy » 18 Aug 2007, 07:28

I'm embarrassed to ask but I have to know.

As mentioned on the forum: I have an AD30VT and was going to buy an AD50VT2-XL (this has two 12" speakers).

Now until today (this is embarrassing part 1) I'd never heard of the Tonelab and have developed an interest while looking at the AD50 XL. I don't know anything processers like this one or similar ones such as the Zoom.

Embarrassing part 2: I've read through here and other places trying to understand where the Tonelab fits in but haven't quite got there yet.

My questions which I would be grateful if someone could answer:

I have a Randall 100w stereo amp with an effects loop and two 12" speakers. Does this mean I can plug the LE into the amp's loop and use the amp as the output medium for the Le? Or does it just plug into the amp's front main input socket?

Can the LE be plugged into a laptop and with software such as Steinberg Cubase LE and used for recording?

Last one: I'm getting the impression that as I have an AD30VT, I would be better of buying the LE rather than the AD50 XL as they sell in Australia for about the same price.

Thanks for your patience.

Only you can answer that.
The Tonelab with your Randall will give you much greater versatility than an AD, and better sound as well. But it won't be as simple.

Hi Dalron - there's a wealth of info & support on the Tonelabs (& other MFX units) being used with different amps, at TheStompBox.Net here: -

Read the article by Kewlpak first.
