top end fuzz

Postby carguy200550 » 10 Jan 2009, 01:42

I have been playing on this thing for about a month, and noticed when I hit the strings hard(no matter the volume or channel) their is a loud top end fuzz(more like a static, speaker crackle type sound). I was under the impression that these weren't supposed to sound digital. Is this normal, or is something off?

Thanks,
Jon

Depends how bad it is.

Some have commented on a subtle, mild top-end fizz on overdriven souds. I got rid of it by fitting a better valve (tube).
But if it is anything more, then something is off.

Well I figured it out for my home setup (I was overpowering the little speakers) This still leaves a mystery for the pa though. The vocal coming through those mains is a lot louder than my guitar, yet the speaker breaks up like I am overpowering it. Is there anything special I should do with my direct box? Also what tube did you switch to? BTW I am using the LE are you on this same setup?

I'm talking about subtle, top-end fizz. not anything as obvious as speaker break-up.

I have an oroginal desktop tonelab. I switched to a JJ ECC83s, which was an improvement, and then to a Groove Tubes GT12AX7M, which is a keeper. Remember to recalibrate after any tbe change.

Have you tried backing off the main output level?

i also experienced that fizzy crackling sound on hi gain settings of my ad15vt xl. But lowering the noise reduction removes that fizzy crackling sound. you can try that to your tonelab. hope it helps. :D
