Tonelab vs. AD50VT

Postby marianozz » 13 Oct 2007, 02:46

Hi guys, im new here, and im taking in as much as i can from other threads...

Thing is, im kinda tired of my home rig, and im willing to change into something more versatile / real sounding.

I have a BOSS ME33 hooked to a Fender "RAD BASS" amp, now the amp sounds heavenly clean, and i get a lot of pretty nice sounds out of it with the boss, still, it lacks the "OOMPH" of a real tube powered sound...

Now, being as i wont be leaving my house, and i have neighbors on top of that, i was wondering what would suit me best in terms of being practical and versatile at the same time...

I had my mind set on the 50VT 2x12 cause it has to sound bigger than my amp just because of the 2 speakers alone... And if i need to get loud at any given time, i know i will... But then i read about the Tonelab... whats the deal? can i hook it up to my amp? do i need something more "PA" like? would it sound good if i plug the Tonelab to an av receiver?

Whats the VOX Bus on the back of the Tonelab?

Well, sorry about the lenghty post, and thanx in advance for any answers :)

edit: i play guitar, even if i have a bass amp , thing is i had an old Marshall vs30 and this bass Fender blew it away...

I would take the Tonelab over the AD50, or any of the AD amps, in fact. If you are not going to gig, and you have some clean, full range amplification available, the Tonelab rules.

You can use it with your amp, but it will probably sound better - or truer - with an AV receiver or stereo or similar. Does your stereo or AV system go fairly loud? It also sounds great with headphones. I use mine most with 'phones or direct to studio monitors.

The 'Vox bus' is for connection to one of Vox's dedicated pedal boards - the VC-4 or VC12. But you don't NEED these.

Go read about the Tonelab on the Vox website.

Tonelab and VC-4, direct to PA.
