I have a VT50 amp and have loved it--especially for the Vox AC15/30 amp modeling. IMHO, a pretty sweet tone and pretty true to the original.
I play mostly at church and the sound guy is moving us towards using in-ear monitors and--gasp--wants to move my amp to a closet and mic it to minimize stage noise. Sound guys, jeez!
Anyway, I was considering getting one of the ToneLabs devices (suggestions on model?) instead of lugging around an amp that I won't be able to hear except in my in-ears anyway.
Any opinions on this? Will I be happy with the sound quality from the ToneLab? Which unit would best suit my needs? (I'm pretty much just using the AC30 modeling, and I front-end it with my own pedal board, not using any of the built-in effects on my VT50). I'm playing a PRS Swamp Ash Special.

The ToneLab ST should work well for you. It's similar to the VT-series, but has more amp models and separate effects controls, similar to the new VT+ series.
G&L SC-3, Ibanez RG550, Epi SG, Fender G-DEC 3 30, Vox AD60VTX w/ VC12, Carvin XV112, Line 6 JM4 Looper, Vox ToneLab, Cry Baby, Digitech RP1, BBESS, Danelectro 7-band EQ, EHX Hum Debugger, Janglebox and Bad Monkey.
It isn't real unless you feel it!

I,also wonder about this.... are the models in the tonelab as good as whats in the advt amps? The tonelab has been out for a while...and the advt amps are more, recent, I believe. I love the playability of the vox modeling amps...but want to go direct into the pa..if possible and only have a small monitor in the stage area. what do you think???

I picked up a pristine TLLE off of eBay for less than 250, and am using it the exact same way that you are intending to. I love, love, love the Fender Bassman amp model with my strat. I run a Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde, and a Boss DD-20 through the effects loop, and use the TLLE just as my "amp" straight to the PA with fantastic results. Give the TLLE a shot, as I've heard some folks having issues going to the PA with the ST.

Vox now has a new model called ToneLab EX. Looks like the street cost is about $100 more than a ST.
I play in a church and am connected to the sound board. I plug my ToneLab LE into my AD50VT and than take the line/headphone jack to the PA. Once plugged in my amp speaker is cut out. The power control on the back of the amp do not control anything at this point.
Once set up the control board is unmanned. I can use the controls on the top of my amp to adjust the volume for louder songs.

Hi people, First post here. I am looking at buying either a new amp - a VT100 or a VT120+ . . . or buying a Tonelab EX and plugging that into my Peavey Bandit.
What I want, is to have really good clean tones, from the CL up around the dial to the Vox AC30 models, with the occasional use of a Crunchy Marshall sound.
I know both options have effects built in, and would be happy to use them. I do have effects pedals, so using them into the front of an amp/unit, and in the effects loop, are an option for me - if it is available with the VT or TL. (VT100 the only amp with a loop ?)
I am fussy about getting really good authentic amp tones, and would use either the TL or the VT, to get good Fender and Vox tones. Good reverb is important to. Any good built in effects would be a bonus.
What do you suggest (only things that are physically possible - and won't frighten the animals - please !!)
Thanks.
