The Tonelab LE and Korg AX3000g (discontinued? - but made by the same folks, of course) both have very nice alpha and numerical displays that provide lots of info about the unit (tubes types, etc..) so you'd think they could just drop that display into the new ST. Oh well. I share your "pain" Voxman.
I suppose Vox sees this as a bridge unit between the gigging unit (the LE) and a recording unit (sort of like the old table top Tonelab). If that's the case, performance issues would be less important. That's pretty much how the lower series Digitech and Line6 pedals are as well. The Digitechs have only patch up and down pedals (one extra on the RP350 but that's just an amp A/B) and the floor PODs are the same. You don't get more control and switches till you get to the pricey pedals. The Tonelab LE has lots of performance features including a swithcable effects loop and the ability to control individual components within the patches. So...as I see it, Vox made the marketing decision that this is made to go head to head to those "lesser" models. Still, I can't figure out how Line6 can get the alpha display on a bunch of their amps but Vox left that off of the VT series. Well, they are still the best modeling amps out there...
