Anyone here use their Tonelab SE thru a Fender Twin? I'm interested in hearing your opinions. When I go out on the road, I use rented backline gear. Fender Twins are the standard guitar amp for backline companies. Thanks!!

Go direct to PA (and monitors). It'll save you the rental cost of Fender Twin each time.

Thanks for the reply. The backline gear is provided. I don't have to pay for it. I realize that I can go direct with it but I feel the band would prefer that I'd go thru the amp. Simply because we're all used to having the guitar amps behind us. These shows are mutiple act shows so it wouldn't be possible to run a couple wedges behind me, so,, that being said,,, I have to use the twin. I was hoping to get a response from anyone in the same situation as me and using the Tonelab thru a clean amp. Thanks!!!!!

I read a review of the tonelab LE on the Line6 forum from someone who had used it through the FX return on a fender hot rod deville ( http://line6.com/support/message.jspa?messageID=69191)
I know it isnt a twin but it could be similar, and he had good results apparently. Hope that helps

Well guys,,, My Tonelab SE arrived yesterday. I borrowed a friends 65 reissue Fender twin, the same ones we get on the road. Although I love the Vox AD 120VTX and AD120VTH,, I gotta say,,, I wasn't impressed with how the Tonelab sounds thru the twin. I know you should be running the Tonelab direct or thru the effects loop of an amplifer. Unfotuneatly,,, most Fender twins don't have an effects loop. My intent was to try to bring the Vox Valvetronics tone with me on these travel dates when I can't use my own gear. Well, I think I'll use stomp boxes on those dates to make life alittle easier!! I know they sound good thru a twin!! As for the Tonelab SE I just bought,,,, looks like I'll be selling it. Either thru a music store on consignment here in Cleveland or I'll post it back up on Ebay. If you see an Ebay seller by the name of 'guitarbilly44',, that would be me. Thanks for all your help with this one guys!!!!! I'll still be posting on the AD120 forums.

GB, I don't own a TLSE & so am not overly familiar with them - but aren't there different settings you can select re how you connect it? If there are, just make sure you've experimented with them all before selling the TLSE on, in case you missed a nice combination through lack of unfamiliarity - I'm sure Nik & other TLSE owners can give you some further guidance here.

Hello Vox, Basically you have two options for connecting the Tonelab SE,,, "Line" for direct,,, "Amp" for connecting to an amplifier. I wasn't impressed with the sound. My Boss-GT-5 which I've used for years sounds better. I guess I'm getting tired of the programable multi-effects pedals in general. I've own them all,, Boss, Line 6 Pod xt live, Digitech etc. In my live playing situation,, I have to use different rented backline and it's getting tiresome always tweeking all the time. I just want to plug in and play!! I'm going to put together a small pedal board for traveling using various stompboxes, Boss tuner, Boss compressor, Boss chorus, ProCo Rat pedal, and maybe another overdrive pedal for lead tones. I'm thinking of selling my Tonelab SE to purchase the TC ELECTRONICS Chorus pedal. I'll use my Valvetronics amps or my Line 6 Vetta Combo when I gig with my own gear. I have them tweeked just right.

I wonder if the new TLLE, with it's 5 global options, might be a better solution?

Yes, and on at least one of those selections you also have a three band global EQ available.
With the Boss GT-6 I used to use, I could plug it into just about anything, fiddle with the output selection and the global EQ and get my sound - near as damnit. Of course, back then, 'my sound' wasn't nearly as good as it is now with a Tonelab...
