The free library software is very basic, and the simpler TLST design means you can't set delay time accurately, or tweak 'live' on your computer.
I was just wondering if there were any software experts here who might be able to design some proper edit software for the TLST?

I use to say that everything is possible, the impossible just requires more time to solve, however this task might require an indefinite amount of time Or at least a great deal of help from Vox First off, does the TLST even send "status" information over the USB connection? Does it send some sort of code when pressing different buttons or adjusting different potentiometers? And does it recognize a signal to adjust these parameters from the computer? Nothing suggests that it does, all we know is that it sends an audio signal, and you can transfer your settings to and from the device with the Librarian software, AFAIK you can't change parameters in the librarian either on or offline, and you have to send/recieve the whole lot as a batch. Furthermore even the saved files cannot be edited as they seem to be in a proprietary format and not standard MIDI files. If nothing is sent, you would need a hardware/software mod in the device itself to signal events like adjusting pots. If this possibility exists, i.e. it sends and recieves control codes over USB, then why did not Vox include a Sound Editor? It should be fairly simple for them to modify the existing Sound Editors to fit the ST. I believe that's the dealbreaker here, If it sends control codes, then it's possible to debug them even if Vox would refuse to reveal the format, otherwise a rather involved hardware mod is on the agenda and that's way beyond me... Since I don't have access to a TLST I have no means of debugging what it does so I'm a bit lost there. I understand you have some good connections at Vox Rich, could you ask them if there's even a remote possibility to control the TLST from a computer? /Dan

I wonder if this was one of the corners they cut to provide a small size & price?
I was going to get one of these in addition to my Tonelab (desktop model). Now, I think I may opt for a VT30 as a backup to my AD60VTX for our weekend jam sessions.

I'm speaking with Vox re trying to get info on the SYSEX software used in the ST, & enquiries are being made with Japan. I'll keep you all posted. Rich

Vox UK have now heard from Korg in Japan & sadly it's disappointing news I'm afraid: Apparently, it’s not possible to edit the ToneLab ST remotely via the USB as no Sys-ex info is transmitted, only bulk data dump. Therefore it would not be worthwhile to try and build an editor. Info on the bulk data is not available. If it was, it may be possible to edit the bulk data, but you wouldn’t be able to hear the edits without constantly sending the data to the ToneLab ST so it wouldn’t be a worthwhile project.
Never mind, it was worth a try. Rich

Ok, case closed at least regarding a Sound Editor. If one could edit the bulk data however, it would be possible to edit eg. delay time. I'll take a look at the .tlst files.

This is the web address to a program called 'THE STLAB PROJECT'. The gentleman at this web site has developed a program editor for TLST, which even at this early stage of development is looking extremely positive. I have used this program to name all the songs/patches including the 'EXTRA PROGRAM LIST',located in the TLST program files. The TLST retains all this information within the memory for future reference when connected to the computer. http://robig.net/wiki/index.php?wiki=EnStLab. I recommend that you check it out. Regards smokin.
