Suggestion for VOX re: the next upgrade

Postby CitizenCain » 17 Feb 2009, 02:04

Dear VOX, when you next update the Tonelab LE, please put the insert effect after the builtin distortions. If you did this, the Tonelab LE could be used in a true 4CM hookup with option of using your own amp's preamp or the modeling amps of the Tonelab.

Thanks for reading this

Also, separate the wah from the dist pedals and give me a A/B switch for getting back and forth from one patch to another... then I would be in Tonelab heaven!

PS:
An upgradeble firmware for getting updates and glitches out of it.

Yes, the A/B switch would be nice. Or the option to A/B two amp models within the same patch. I'm playing with a frined's Digitech RP350 that has this capability and I find it really handy.

dear vox,

i hate the the lack of patch switches of your new tonelab st, though, the other new features are cool. i hope you try to check and follow the development of other modelling fx like Digitech rp1000-- very cool and flexible (their only problem is the digital fizzy sounding tone.) i love your valvetronix technology because of its closeness to tube sound, but the lack of flexibility compelled me not to have your tonelab.

love,

I think the Tonelab LE is still the way to go. The RP1000 is very expensive and does offer some additional flexibility for looping and such. The Tonelab LE has a lot of those features and has a loop feature in it. You can still run your OD pedals in front of the LE or mod pedals after it, if you wanted to do that. The LE also allows you to set the pedals up to switch individual effects on and off within each patch -- like a pedal board. And the Vox Tonelabs sound so much better than the Digitech units. The ST is not at all marketed to compete with the RP1000 and is very much like every other digitech pedal that has only two buttons to control patches (up and down) - the RP155, 255, 355 (it adds the third pedal for an A/B amp switch). The bottom line for me is -- go for the tone -- the patching features and such can be solved in other ways.
