speaker change!!

Postby voxxl46 » 27 Aug 2010, 13:41

Hello fellow Vox lovers- recently I picked up a 100 watt xl series 2-12 amp and really didnt care for the sound of this one vs. my ad50 watt 2-12. On a whim I swapped the 80 watt speakers in the XL out with the speakers in the 50 watt non- XL and wow what a difference!! These speakers made a huge difference in the sound of the 100 watt XL!! Much clearer sounding now (playing heavy music btw) Just thought I would share this tidbit! I am using a Electro Harmonix Metal Muff nano on the glass setting with a Dean Caddy select and it sounds tremendous!! Looking forward to trying an EQ in the FX loop next! Anyone with a similar story? Thanks, Kevin

Voxxl46 - Hmm - you might want to be a bit careful here. According to the info supplied by Vox, the AD50VT212 has 2x30w speakers. (These were Vox own speakers not the 80w Celestion 70/80 that came with the AD50VT) That's not enough for your 100w AD100VT-XL if you crank it - you could blow the speakers. See here:
