Some info on Vox Valvetronix speakers

Postby Voxman » 12 Oct 2007, 01:05

A while back, I believe some folk were seeking some information on the speakers used in the 'Chrome' Valvetronix amps. Gareth at Vox UK has very kindly provided me with some technical info - the info on sensitivity for the AD100VT is pretty surprising - I had no idea you could get as high as a 109db rated guitar speaker!

To be honest, I think someone at Vox has got confused & you should take these with a pinch of salt - judging by reports of speaker changes and increased volumes thereafter, neither the 50-212 rating of 102dB or or the 100 rating of 109dB can possibly be right! :!: The speakers in my AD120VTX are 102dB 'Neodogs' & I'd be amazed if the speakers in the 50-212 were 4dB higher than the 70/80 in the 1x12 version. And if 109dB speakers do exist, the AD100VT would be equivalent to a 200w Marshall!! - No, I don't think so somehow!
