Resetting my Tonelab - programs remain?

Postby bobo » 12 Jul 2010, 15:58

I reset my (purchased used) Tonelab ST to factory settings. But, all of the user programs remain in the 01-49 section. Shouldn't they be removed on a reset? I tried it twice and they are still there. Thanks,

It's only the 50 factory pre-sets that get reset as far as I know - which is great, because you don't lose your own custom made patches. :wink:

Can the factory presets be changed? I thought they were locked and I could only change the user presets.

Correct - they can be changed temporarily but any changes will be lost as soon as you switch patches. If you like a factory preset you can of course tweak it (or not) & save it permanently in one of the 50 user slots.

If you want to remove your presets,activate the tonelab editor with TLST connected;

1.All you presets will displayed at the top half of the page.The factory presets at bottom half of page.

2.Click on EDIT,which will display a drop down page,than click on the patch line you want remove and then click on clear.Repeat this procedure until you have remove those presets you don't want.

If you want to install the 'Extra program Patches/songs located in TLST program folder, than follow this procedure;

The 'Extra program List' is located in the original ToneLab editor file download.In Windows XP program it is located at C drive>Program Files>ToneLabST>ToneLabST Sound Librarian>TLST ExtraProgram file.There is a Extra program List also in the folder.The way in which I ended up loading the extra list was;

1.Connect tonelab st to computer.

2.open the Original ToneLab editor program.

3.click on FILE TAB at the top left hand corner of the screen.Note the screen will only have what ever presets you have saved.

4.click on open.there will be a small screen which will show you two files.Click on the TLST EXTRA PROGRAM FILES.

5.These files will fill the bottom of the page.The only way I could get them to transmit to the Tonelab ST was to use the edit tab at the LH top of the page.

6.One by one,click on the new song/patch,go to the edit tab>press copy>go to the section of the page,click on the line where you want to save the file>edit tab again.and click patch.

7.Once you have done all the file copy/patch.Click on the FILE TAB,click close files.

8.Within the FILE TAB is TRANSMIT,click on this and the extra song/patches will be transferred to the tonelab st

9.Close the tonelab editor program.Note all this is carried out with the Tonelab st unit connected to the computer.

10.You can check all the songs/programs using the new STLAB PROJECT PROGRAM.You can even name all the songs and patches with this program,which be be retained in the Tonelab unit for future reference.This is what the list will look like with the 'EXTRA SONGS/PATCHES'added to the original factory songs/patches.

So the Extra presets list (TLST_ExtraProgram.tlst) should be like as below ... Updated!
