Im experiencing problems with my ad50vt its a few years old now and have had the problems for a few months. For one, none of the effects match the dial on the effects side. They also dont change every time you turn the dial, and the last thing is rarely the effects will turn themselves on and off or change effects completely. i have tried re-seting the amp via the manual but there still no change

As far as I know, the effects selector and amp model selector are both pots and subject to the same issues pots normally are. If you open up the amp and remove the chassis, you should be able to spray electronics grade contact cleaner/lube into the pots. You might as well do them all once you're in there.

On most pots there is an opening in the case, next to the terminals, as in this picture. Spray in there. Hopefully your pots look like this one (the number of terminals may vary). If not, try to find some opening to spray into. After you spray, work the knob back and forth several times to clean and lube the insides thoroughly.

Sometimes potentiometers can be cleaned from the top (knob side) without taking the amp apart; http://www.valvetronix.net/forums/potentiometer-cleaning-tool-t3971.html

What cleaner would you reccommend? I want to get a good, reliable, efficient cleaner for the amp and guitar pots.
Please advise.

Any electronics grade contact cleaner will work, as long as it meets two key requirements; 1). It must be safe for use around plastics. 2). It must have a lubricant in it.
