odd problem

Postby bill rand » 03 Feb 2012, 11:56

Hi folks maybe some one will have a bit of advice. I noticed with my ad60vtx there seems to be some sort of back ground distortion on most of the amp models that lasts a few seconds when striking certain chords or notes fairly hard. I initially thought maybe it was the speaker damaged in some way or some thing rattling in the cab its self.

I removed the speaker (a replacement century vintage) and the noise could be heard directly from the speaker its self, i could find no damage to it. I replaced it with a 70/80 i have in my ad60vt and the same noise was there.

I plugged in my ext cab with vintage30 in it and again the sound was reproduced through that, so thought i maybe a software problem so many resets later the noise is still there.

I put back the century vintage into the vtx and left the cab connected with the vintage 30 and sat the amp on top , i forgot how good this sounds with the cab i normally gig it on its own with a stand, i may go to using the cab as a stand now lol.

Anyway i transferred all the patches via the vc12 to my stock vt and low and behold the noise is in this amp too.

Can some one check carefully if their amps produce the same after tone if thats actually english lol

Maybe ac15tb gain 3 oclock seems more noticeable when playing the bottom e and a around the end of the fret board, and bar chords in the same area

thanks guys

Most likely just sound degradation from dirty jack sockets - see the FAQ maintenance thead & clean them all thoroughly! Pay special attn to FX loop, & headphone, which are switching jacks.
