Good info Rich! I meant as a backup to my AD60VTX, if our band starts gigging regularly. :D

For now, I'm happy with what I have, but will be interested in seeing the new amp when it comes out.

On another note, I tried the Laney Cub 12R, but wasn't able to put it through many paces. I liked what I heard, but not enough to trade my Carvin XV112 on it (at least not yet). I finally played the Carvin again last weekend after many years of not, and it may need new tubes (original ones from the 80s are still in there). It wasn't used a lot, but with that much age, I'm getting some squealing when I turn up the clean volume, even with no guitar plugged in. :|

It isn't real unless you feel it!

Hi guys ( ... & gals), This looks a really interesting new amp with a very impressive list of features, but I doubt the build quality will be anywhere near the older blue series amps. Looking at the specs it's a 150 watt amp with a 12 inch speaker, but the cabinet is roughly the same size as the VT30 ( ... a little deeper) and just about the same weight @ 12.1kg! Don't know how they'll squeeze it all in! Cheers - Ally

The Blues were the most solid Valvetronix they ever built. As you say, it will be interesting to hear how the VTX150 Pro sounds. We'll have to wait. Although the exterior has been revamped I'm just hoping Vox has got rid of the bugs in the VT+.

I think its way over time Vox builds in USB firmware upgradeability (& attend properly & efficiently to upgrades) to the V'x amps.

I really want the VTX150 Pro to be a goodie! I hate to say it but right now, the Fender Mustangs are IMHO the best bang for buck out there and I think are better than the VT+. Foot pedals are included (1,2 or 4 button - depends on the amp), USB upgradeable, great tone, free software, great features eg adjustable bias, sag, and cab models, every patch (100 in the III) fully programmable, Celestion speakers (certainly in the III & IV). And from spending a little time on the Fender forum, Fender seem really on the ball re customer service & responsiveness. I tried a Mustang III on approval & although I eventually went for a compact, light tube amp* that I could use at home, I nearly decided to keep it (at £200-217 for a 1x12" 100w amp its stunning value!) - I may still go for it in addition to the Cub if the VTX150 Pro isn't a big improvement on the VT+!

(*Laney Cub 12R, 15w single channel class A/B. Digital reverb, 8/16 Ohm extn cab outs, neat built in 'tilt' stand, tone control in addition to normal 3-band EQ, Celestion Rocket 50 1x12 speaker. Key feature is a less than 1w input for quiet playing at home, in addition to the normal 15w input. Lovely, sweet amp!).

Rich
