Discussion forum for the new Vox 'Valve Reactor' (non-modelling) amps

Just found this from Japan thanks to Rany on the Vox forum - here's a copy of my post: Thanks Rany - although I'm a little surpised/puzzled that Vox UK hasn't told us about these amps first - this is after all the official Vox board. Here's a link translated to English: http://translate.google.co.uk/translate ... n%26sa%3DGThe AC15VR is closedback & the AC30VR is open backed. Weight wise, these are way lighter than the AC15/30's so Vox clearly feels there's a good market in amps that utilise the valve-reactor circuitry with AC15/30 chacteristics that work well with external pedals. They should do as the input pre-amp stage is analogue which should avoid the nasty clipping when using certain pedals at the digital front end of a Valvetronix. Be interested to see the price of these when they hit the streets. Could be an excellent solution for those with Tonelab DT/SE/LE/ST that want a 'straight' amp with valve feel to play them through, but without the weight of the valve versions, and the conflicting modelling if TL's were put through the Valvetronix range. If they gel well with the TL's you can also see a great market for Vox in simultaneously increasing its TL sales too. Could be a very clever move by Vox! A lot of folk wanted the Blue Valvetronix back - Following the Blackdiamond prototype being pulled, one of these & a TL might be an excellent solution. Rich

I wonder whether these are basically an updated VR15 and VR30. I guess volume wise they are probably not going to compare to their tube counterparts. They are a nice looking amp and have a 'blue' panel like the old blue series. Having 3 channels would be good. Looks like it has a speaker out and footswitch jack. Actually the AC30VR would suit me fine as I seem to just use one amp model for gigging anyway mostly. Using external pedals is still probably the best bet as well too.

Yes and no - same concept but with the same look & control layout to the AC15/AC30

That remains to be seen - depending on speaker sensitivity and how they've designed the power-section, there might not be very much in it.
