Doesn't that make it pointless then?

That seems like a major flaw to me.

It is certainly a flaw, but it does not make it pointless.
All multiFX processors have limitations on how many effects you can use together. The Tonelabs are just a bit more limited than the Pod and Boss GT processors.

The Pod and Boss GT processors are not as easy to use as the Tonelabs and their amp modelling is not as good. Does that make them pointless?

I use a separeate Wah in front of my Tonelab, but that's all. The amp simulations are good enough that I have no need of pedal overdrives or boosts. The Power amp characteristics are so good that I don't need a separate compressor.

Yeah mate I know exactly what you mean. Thats why I have decided to buy the Boss GT-8. It is the happy medium, i have a modeling amp I don't really need good models, it has lots of effects which I want, can use up to 14 together, easier to use than pod/easish to use.

Pod Live has more effects but has 4 controls and a screen, which is really hard to use.
And I have always been a Line 6 hater so LOL.

The vox looks the best quality though and i think it is basically really made for use with direct house PA and a mixer, but really I just want effects but not as bare bones as the ME-50.

Pretty much what you need to do is think what do I need and what do I don't? Then you will know. Anyway thanks for your help mate im so excited. Also its a bit cheaper than the VOX which should be good :D.

If you don't want the models then you don't want a Tonelab. And yes, short of a rack FX and a separate floorboard, the GT-8 has to be the one to have.
