Getting some sustainy-feedback

Postby brian6string » 15 Feb 2011, 15:49

Overall, I'm pretty happy with this little box. It won't replace my pedalboard, but it may replace my amp if I can get it tweaked to where I want it. I'm getting there.

My sound guy (at my church) is dead set on eliminating amps on stage and going to in ear monitors. So I got the TLST to stand in for my Valvetronix VT50. The one thing I am missing immensely is the ability to get some sustain/feedback from having an actual amp. Obviously a compressor can add some sustain, but is there any way in an in-ear environment to simulate a little feedback as notes trail off?

To answer my own question: I've landed on a pretty decent solution. With my Fulldrive in Boost mode, adding my ProCo Rat to the mix creates some pretty crazy overtones on sustained notes. It's not exactly feedback, but it's a pretty nice effect. I wouldn't necessarily play a whole song with those two effects on though.

The tube OD has worked for me over the UK80s model.
G&L SC-3, Ibanez RG550, Epi SG, Fender G-DEC 3 30, Vox AD60VTX w/ VC12, Carvin XV112, Line 6 JM4 Looper, Vox ToneLab, Cry Baby, Digitech RP1, BBESS, Danelectro 7-band EQ, EHX Hum Debugger, Janglebox and Bad Monkey.

It isn't real unless you feel it!
