FX loop with Boss GT10 problem

Postby ultimoorejondeltarro » 23 Dec 2011, 13:23

Hi, I bought a VOX AD100VT a while ago, at first i used GUITAR --> GT-10 --> VOX (boutique clean channel)

Now I've found a good the Vox sounds 100 times better on it's own.
So I tried to plug the pedalboard through the effects loop, to get the best of both worlds. The pedal board also include a channel seleccion function, so I can switch the Vox channels directly from the pedalboard.

But... I don't know why, when i plug it through the FX loop the sound shape changes A LOT, it's like it looses bass, becomes more trebly, even setting the pedalboard to BYPASS.

I have serious intentions of selling it by now, but it's a shame cause it has so many things...

Does anyone have any idea why does this occur?

Here there are some things i recorded:

Metropolis: GUITAR --> GT-10 --> VOX (boutique clean channel) --> Shure SM57 --> FastTrack Pro
The songs uploaded after, just: GUITAR --> GT-10 --> VOX (boutique clean channel) --> Shure SM57 --> FastTrack Pro
The songs before metropolis GUITAR --> GT-10 --> FastTrack Pro

You could try simply turning the GT10 pramp modeling OFF, to just use the GT10 as an effects pedal, and placing it in front of your amp (ie NOT in the FX loop).

There is also a method called '4-cable' that may be worth trying, which splits the pre-amp & power-amp sections of your amp. Here's a .pdf from Boss explaining how to do this. The GT10 settings (as explained) will allow you to select between using your amps preamp section (which is what you want to keep the AD100VT modeling) or the GT10's (where you're just using the AD100VT as a poweramp - not the way I'd go, because the AD100VT modeling is so much better, as you've found):

If you're still struggling, I suggest you pop into the StompBox.net:

This site specialises in MFX units such as the Boss GT10 & there's a lot of user experience there to help you.

Thanks!! I tried that way but it just doesn't sound well.

I think it's the pedalboard. I put the patch to zero but automatically the sound looses volume, lows and becomes more trebly.

That's it. I'm selling it, and buying a Boss GE7 and a Dunlop Crybaby GCB-95.

With the Uk Modern, i play with bass and middles to zero, and it has to much bass yet.
With Nu metal, i play with the middles to 0, and still to much middle.

I think i will get a great results doing that, i was suspicious it could work, after seen your videos on youtube I confirmed all my doubts!!

Thanks again man!
