Funky stuff / Jackson-5

Postby doctorshaw » 10 Jan 2010, 23:07

OK, one more here. I thought it might be worth posting because not all of us are heavy rockers, and some guitarists out there also love the clean funky stuff.
So this is a link to my band playing some funky stuff live, using my AD120VTH with two AD212 cabs that are split either side of the set up. Video quality is not brilliant, but it demonstrates the sound ok.
For the Jackson-5 tunes, I use the Fender Twin setting (Black 2x12). For Golden Touch, i always use the Fender Bassman (Tweed 4x12). The guitar is my Fender USA strat. I think the pickup is at the bridge for Jackson 5, but at the neck for Golden Touch. They are both combined with some compression (drive at 12oclock, level at 1pm)
I've got a Boss GE7 in the FX loop - as per Voxman's postings. This really helps it to cut through the mix. When playing live, i always make sure my presets have less presence, gain and reverb than i would have on at home. If the presence is too high, it can be a bit uncomfortable for the listener.
If the gain and reverb are too high...... well it just sounds naff !
Hope you enjoy it !
All the best

Steve
