Awesome new Bugera all-valve amps?

Postby Voxman » 26 Mar 2010, 14:49

Don't know what this puppy will cost, but it's (reportedly) hand built - If it sounds even close to the Mesa MkIV it's 'based' on, this is going to be one stonkingly good amp!!

The BC30-212 also sounds like it could be a winner:

Putting aside any 'political' views as to the rights & wrongs of so closely basing gear on other manufacturers products (& playing the brand new guessing game of who's going to sue Behringer/Bugera first! ), if it gives the big boys a run for their money and means we as consumers can gear great sounding gear a lot cheaper, that's gotta be a good thing for the majority of poorer customers that can't afford £3,000 for a 'botique' amp!!

Reliability needs to be watched obviously, but I'm hearing lots of good things about the latest Bugera products, so time will tell.

Waiting to see the street prices for these!

Rich

Doesn't surprise me at all - there's a demo on you tube comparing your Bugera with the original, and it's very hard to tell any real difference in tone. I think the Bugera's offer great value for money and sound very good. It's the reliability issue that has the question mark - however, so far, I've seen nothing but good reports on Bugera customer service.

Yeah i can understand the reliability thing, for me it was a non issue seeing as the problem everybody was talking about was only a cheap MOLEX connector used in the output transformer section that would melt from the high temps, the fix was simple as all anyone had to do was remove the connector and solder the leads directly to the board...i did this to mine by the way

Its worth noting that this problem was only for the first run of bugera amps and was quickly fixed for the next batch of amps, anyway you gotta check out the new infinium ones coming here very shortly these look to be super fun to play as you can use any tube (matched or not) through individual self biasing in PT section, for a variety of valve tones.

In conclussion though i highly recommend these amps as their tone to price ratio is outstanding, throw in a few NOS tubes and these amps really open up...nothing like pure all valve power.
