Anyone played one of these?

Postby bclarke675 » 20 Apr 2010, 21:44

They haven't come into my local guitar shop, so I was wondering if anyone has gotten their hands on one?

Love to hear comparison between AC15VR & AC15CC.

To my ears the AC15VR and 30 while sounding pretty good still have that solid state harshness to them when you hit the strings hard. The real thing are sweeter sounding. Its easy to pick the difference by listening to the various Youtube clips especially with good monitor speakers. Someone in another post commented that the AD60 side by side sounded warmer.

Thanks! It is hard to beat the sound of my AD60VTX. I'm looking for a backup amp, in case something happens with my AD60VTX (going in shop to fix high input). A VT30 is looking more attractive all the time. Still waiting to hear/play the new Fender G-DEC 3 amps.

Hi all !

I own the AC30VR !

It's a sweet sounding amp to my ears ! :)
Compared with the old "blue" VT series (I've had both the combo and the head version of the AD60) it feels more real. The AD60 was an awesome amp, but I like this one more !
I play the AC30VR with a Strat and a Tele and I've to say that it sings ! And, just like a real tube amp, the more you rise the volume, the more it play good adding lots of harmonics !
Probably not a real AC30 but a GOOD sounding amp for sure !!

Ciao!
Marco

I own one (but lent to a friend while I work on / play with his Fendr 1954 Woodie ( WOW! )

These are realy nice amps - pretty power stage tubey - I did a couple things and gave lots of improvement - I used a GE greyplate 12AU7 (after rolling MANY tubes...) and it thickened the tone & handles hard hits better, then also put in a good accutronics reverb tank - REALLY NICE - sounds very real and warm! - Not quite as loud, but more headroom - can get brittle if pushed to hard with a pedal & cranked. It sounds really good with single coil pickups, humbuckers can get a little mushy .

BTW the 12AU7 often works better in lower voltage circuits, especially under 100volts IMHO
