American Woman (or at least something close)

Postby eggsbenny » 13 Sep 2011, 07:21

Song: American Woman - The Guess Who www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OR6HkGS11c
Gear: Vox VT100
Guitar: Strat HSS with Dimarzio Tonezone bridge and FS1 neck OR 1970s Les Paul copy with Mity Mite PAFs
Pedals to work with: Boss ME-20 Multi, Boss 65 Deluxe Reverb COSM stompbox
Tone I want: The buttery lead tone that can be heard when the song kicks into gear. It was originally done with essentially a modified Fender champ with an attenuator run into a custom Marshall like amp.

I know its asking a LOT of my VT100 to attempt to replicate the GODLY tone that Randy Bachman managed to create with the legendary Garnet Hertzog but is there any way I could get somewhere close to it? Im considering putting an attenuator on my Vibro Champ but I would like something that is practical on stage as I will be needing this sound to be accessible between that and the corresponding rhythm tone on stage. Any ideas guys?
