AD Direct out mod

Postby Andy R. » 08 Dec 2011, 04:13

I've been reading the direct out mod post and can't figure how to do it. I did have my AD15VT opened up about a year ago and thought it looked too complacated to expirment with. On the original post there are 2 different pictures of the mod for the AD seris. One on the 1st page and again one on the 2nd page. Not being a "tech" I don't understand if they are really different but to me the one on the second page looks easier. Just jump two different solder points together.

Do you need to take the circuit board out to do this mod? (I think I'd be chicken).

Here's the original post:

Don't laugh but I use the AD15VT for live gigging in an oldies band and mic it through the PA. We can sometimes tear down and be out in the van in 12 minutes. I do miss all the bells and whistles of my AD60VTH or my "Super Beatle" but hey, we get the job done and get out fast. If I could use a line out instead of hooking up a mic, we'd get out even faster!

The mute defeat on page two of the post is a simpler design, it defeats the mute circuit by adding two small jumper wires at the underside of the board. One jumper completes the mute defeat circuit, the other completes the signal path around the headphones. There is no switch to control the mute circuit in this design, the mute is simply defeated all the time.

Yes, the PC board needs to be removed to access the solder connections and it requires soldering and PCB skills, as well as being careful to support and not dislodge the power chip at the heatsink.

Thanks. The mod on the 2nd page looks doable and I'd have no interest in ever using the mute function again so that would be good. Is soldeing necesary to remove the circuit board?

Thanks again.
