AC30HW2 - good news re tube issue

Postby Voxman » 24 May 2011, 09:10

For those that may have been following the thread on the Vox forum re the HW2 (handwired) amps having a problem in accepting certain tube makes (specifically JJ Tubes, a popular brand) I'm delighted to confirm that Vox has now confirmed that all new HW2's leaving the factory have been modified to work with all major tube makes.

The HW2's are fitted with Ruby tubes as stock and there was a problem with the HW2 not accepting JJ tubes (I'm not technical, but something to do with the grid plate position I think).

Vox has already been modifying all previous HW2's free under warranty (at authorised Vox centres) but it has taken a little while to gain clarification from them as to whether the new HW2's were going to be modified. This is good news and means that new lucky owners of this great amp won't need to return the amp for modification and will be free to fit any major make of tube they might prefer without difficulty.

Rich :D
